Opened in May 2014 by the company that runs Bangkok Hospital Phuket, Dibuk Hospital was built to offer private care at a lower price: a 100-bed secondary-care hospital on Chao Fa West Road, the road from Phuket Town down to Chalong, open 24 hours, with outpatient clinics and Thai HA accreditation. It sends what it cannot handle up to its sister hospitals.
What it is known for
Private care without the flagship bill. Dibuk Hospital opened on 1 May 2014 as the BDMS group’s secondary-care hospital for Phuket — 100 registered beds, an emergency room open 24 hours, the usual general departments and Thai HA accreditation. It sits on Chao Fa West Road in Wichit, which puts it between Phuket Town and Chalong and within easy reach of Kata, Karon and Rawai. It handles the everyday complaints of a beach island — stomach bugs, infections, scooter scrapes, simple fractures — and refers anything that needs a specialist centre to Bangkok Hospital Phuket, ten minutes up the road, or to Siriroj on the bypass.
Who it suits
Visitors who want a private hospital with English-speaking staff and short waits but not top-tier prices, families staying in the south of the island, and long-stay residents who use it as their everyday hospital. It is also a sensible first stop for a moderate injury when you are closer to Chalong than to town, since the emergency room can stabilise and refer. Serious trauma and complex surgery are better taken directly to Bangkok Hospital Phuket or Siriroj, and the staff will say so.
Cost and insurance
Mid-range private prices — well below Bangkok Hospital Phuket and Siriroj, above the public hospitals. Being in the BDMS network means many of the same insurer contracts apply, so direct billing is possible for an admission if your insurer is on the list; otherwise pay and claim, with a deposit on admission. Ask for the estimate first, and for an English medical certificate and an itemised receipt before you leave; both are routine here.
Getting there
On Chao Fa West Road (Chao Fa Tawan Tok), the main road south from Phuket Town towards Chalong, about ten minutes from town, fifteen from the Chalong circle, twenty-five from Kata and Karon and forty from Patong.
