A purpose-built 320-bed hospital in the Hi-Tech Healthcare Park in Binh Tan, on the western edge of the city, opened in 2014 and accredited by the American Accreditation Commission International in 2023. It is the international-tier hospital furthest from the tourist centre, which makes it a poor default and a good answer if you are out this way or coming back up from the Mekong Delta.
What it is known for
Being the general hospital of the Hi-Tech Healthcare Park, a purpose-built medical campus in Binh Tan on the western edge of the city, developed by the Hoa Lam – Shangri-La group. It opened in 2014 with 320 inpatient beds and around twenty clinical and diagnostic departments, has intensive care, operating theatres, cardiac catheterisation and a 24-hour emergency room, and in 2023 became the first hospital in Vietnam accredited by the American Accreditation Commission International. Because it sits on the highway side of the city, it is the hospital the western approaches and the Mekong Delta road reach first, and not one most visitors pass by chance.
Who it suits
Anyone staying, working or travelling in the west of the city; anyone driving in from Long An or the Mekong Delta; and insured patients who want private care without going into the centre. For a visitor based in District 1, Binh Thanh or Phu My Hung it is the wrong choice simply on distance — the other international hospitals are far closer. One caveat worth knowing: the hospital’s website is published in Vietnamese only and it makes no published claim about English-speaking staff or interpreters, so ask what language support is available when you telephone rather than assuming it.
Cost and insurance
Private, international-tier pricing: well above any public hospital, broadly in the same band as the other foreign-facing hospitals in the city. Insurance is handled case by case, and direct billing depends on an arrangement between your insurer and the hospital, so ring your policy’s assistance line before you go if there is time. Otherwise expect to pay as you go and to leave a deposit if you are admitted. Ask for the estimate first, and for an itemised receipt and an English medical report at the end.
Getting there
In the Hi-Tech Healthcare Park in Binh Tan, about ten kilometres west-south-west of Ben Thanh Market and twelve to fourteen by road — twenty-five to forty minutes by taxi depending on the hour. The landmark to give a driver is Aeon Mall Binh Tan, a few hundred metres away. The emergency line, +84 28 6290 1155, runs around the clock and doubles as the hospital’s main number from abroad; the 1900 8146 switchboard is a Vietnamese service number and cannot be dialled from outside the country.
