It is a good fit for stomach bugs, infections, scooter scrapes, sprains and fractures, and for a second opinion; for serious trauma, cardiac events or intensive care it will stabilise and refer, and if you have time and insurance you would go straight to one of the larger hospitals instead.
Cost and insurance
Mid-range private prices, comparable to McCormick and Lanna, well below Ram and Bangkok Hospital. Direct billing depends on your insurer having a contract; otherwise pay and claim, with a deposit on admission. The contact centre, +66 52 011 999, will quote for common procedures and packages in advance, which is worth doing. Keep the itemised receipt and ask for the English medical certificate before you leave. Some directories still list the hospital’s old 053 801 999 number; the 052 number is the one on its own site.
Getting there
On the Chiang Mai–Lamphun Road (Route 106), the tree-lined road that runs south along the east bank of the Ping, a couple of kilometres south of Nawarat Bridge. From the Night Bazaar allow ten minutes by car; from the old city fifteen; from the railway station about five. Grab and Bolt both find it easily, and songthaews running towards Saraphi and Lamphun pass the gate. Say “rong phayaban Ratchawet” to a driver, and add “thanon Chiang Mai–Lamphun” if there is any doubt.
