Fraser's Hill

Fraser's Hill is a small hill station on a forested ridge on the border of Pahang and Selangor, about 100 kilometres north of Kuala Lumpur. The town sits at about 1,500 metres, and the air is cool all year, often around 20 degrees during the day. It is much quieter than Cameron Highlands or Genting. There are no big malls and no theme parks. Instead you find mossy forest, misty mornings, old stone cottages, a small clock tower and a golf course in the middle of town. The hill is one of the best places in Malaysia to watch birds, with more than 250 species recorded. Short jungle trails start right from the town roads, and Jeriau Waterfall is a short drive away. The only way up is by road through The Gap, and there is no public transport, so you need a car or a hired driver. Go on a weekday for the quietest trails and the most birds.
