Vinmec’s hospital on the central coast: 222 beds on 30 Thang 4 street in Hoa Cuong, open since September 2017, and the one hospital in Da Nang designed around foreign and insured patients. It has the departments a general hospital needs, an emergency department and an international patient service. It is also, by a wide margin, the most expensive place in the city to be ill.
What it is known for
Being the hospital in Da Nang that a foreign patient can navigate. Vinmec is a national private group and this is its base on the central coast: a nine-floor building of 222 beds on 30 Thang 4 street in Hoa Cuong, opened in September 2017. It runs the departments a general hospital needs — internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics, paediatrics, imaging, laboratory and emergency medicine — to a standard and in a manner that visitors recognise. One thing to be clear about: two other hospitals in the Vinmec group hold JCI accreditation, but the Da Nang hospital does not publish one of its own, so do not assume it has one.
Who it suits
Anyone with travel insurance, anyone who wants to be dealt with in English, and anyone whose problem is more than a drip and a night’s observation. It is the sensible default for families, for older travellers, and for anything that is not obviously minor. It is also where travellers often ask to be moved once they have been stabilised somewhere cheaper. If money matters more than language, Hoan My does much of the same everyday work for a fraction of the price; if the case is genuinely serious, Da Nang Hospital has the deeper specialist bench and the intensive care.
Cost and insurance
The most expensive hospital in the city, priced like a private hospital in Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur rather than like Vietnam — commonly ten to twenty times a state hospital for comparable treatment. It is also the hospital here most likely to bill your insurer directly, but that still depends on your insurer holding a contract with Vinmec, so ring the assistance number on your policy before you arrive if the situation allows. Without insurance, expect to pay up front or leave a deposit on admission. Ask for a written estimate before any procedure, and keep the itemised receipt and the discharge summary for the claim.
Getting there
On 30 Thang 4 street in Hoa Cuong, about three kilometres south-west of the Dragon Bridge and a few minutes from Asia Park; roughly a quarter of an hour by car from the My Khe beach hotels and under ten minutes from the airport, which makes it the easiest of the five to reach on arrival. Grab and Xanh SM both come here, and the hospital sits on a wide main road with its own forecourt, so a car can pull up at the door. The switchboard and hotline is +84 236 3711 111. From Hoi An it is a thirty-kilometre drive.
Details checked against the hospital’s own website, September 2026. Call before a non-urgent visit; in an emergency call 115 or the hospital’s own emergency line above. Travel information, not medical advice.
