Hoan My has been running in Da Nang since 2002 and is the city’s main Vietnamese private hospital: a general hospital on Nguyen Van Linh about two kilometres west of the Dragon Bridge, open twenty-four hours. It sits squarely in the middle tier — quicker and more comfortable than a state hospital, a good deal cheaper than the international one, and used by residents and visitors alike for everyday trouble.
What it is known for
Being the practical middle. Hoan My opened here in 2002 and belongs to a private hospital network with sites across Vietnam; the Da Nang hospital is a general one, open around the clock, covering internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics, paediatrics, imaging and a laboratory. It is what a lot of residents use when they want to be seen the same morning without paying international prices, and it handles the ordinary run of a coastal city: stomach infections, fevers, chest infections, road injuries and cuts that need stitching. It is the hospital most likely to solve an everyday problem in an hour rather than a morning.
Who it suits
Anyone with a minor or moderate problem who wants speed without Vinmec’s bill, and anyone in the west or centre of the city who needs a hospital that is open at three in the morning. It is a reasonable first stop for a scooter injury that needs cleaning, stitching and an X-ray. English is not guaranteed, so a translation app or your hotel on the phone helps. For major trauma or anything needing intensive care, Da Nang Hospital is the right destination; for insurer-facing paperwork and English throughout, Vinmec is.
Cost and insurance
Private prices at Vietnamese rather than international level: several times a state hospital for the same outpatient visit, but a fraction of what Vinmec charges. A deposit on admission is normal, and most visitors pay and claim, so carry a card that works abroad. Direct billing depends entirely on whether your insurer has an arrangement with the group, so ask at the desk rather than assuming one exists. As everywhere in Vietnam, ask for an itemised receipt and an English-language medical certificate before you leave; the paperwork is much harder to chase once you have flown home.
Getting there
At 291 Nguyen Van Linh in Thanh Khe, on the wide street that runs west from the Dragon Bridge — about two kilometres from the river and a similar distance from Da Nang Hospital. It is a few minutes from the airport and roughly ten to fifteen by car from the My Khe beach hotels. Say “benh vien Hoan My” and any Grab or Xanh SM driver will know it.
