Run by Pattaya City rather than the national health ministry, this 110-bed public hospital opened in 2013 to give the city centre its own emergency room. It sits on Soi Buakhao in the middle of the tourist grid, which makes it the closest hospital of any kind to Walking Street, Soi Buakhao and Pattaya Second Road.

What it is known for

Being close. Pattaya City Hospital is run by the city administration rather than the health ministry and opened in May 2013 to give the crowded centre of town its own public hospital. It is a modest general hospital with outpatient clinics and a 24-hour emergency and accident department, and its address — Soi Buakhao, in the middle of the tourist grid — makes it the nearest hospital of any kind to Walking Street, Soi Buakhao and Pattaya Second Road. Serious cases are stabilised and referred on to the larger hospitals.

Who it suits

Budget travellers with a minor illness or injury who are staying in central Pattaya, and anyone hurt in the centre at night who needs the closest emergency room. Service is Thai-first and waits can be long in the outpatient clinics; the emergency department is faster. For anything complex you will be transferred, so if you have insurance and time, go straight to one of the private hospitals instead.

Cost and insurance

Public pricing — a consultation, basic tests and medicine typically cost less than a night in a mid-range hotel. Pay at the cashier. Documents come in Thai unless you ask, so request an English medical certificate and an itemised receipt if you intend to claim on insurance. Direct billing is not something to expect here.

Getting there

Soi Buakhao runs between Central Pattaya Road and South Pattaya Road, parallel to Second Road; the hospital is a short walk from most central hotels and a few minutes by motorbike taxi from the beach. The emergency line is +66 38 103 999. Ask for “rong phayaban Mueang Pattaya”; taxis and songthaews know the soi, and the emergency entrance is on the soi itself, so a car can pull up outside.

Details checked against the hospital’s own website, September 2026. Call before a non-urgent visit; in an emergency call 1669 or the hospital’s own emergency line above. Travel information, not medical advice.
