Opened in May 2020 by the group behind Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, Jomtien Hospital was built to give the south of the city its own modern private hospital. It runs a 24-hour emergency and trauma department, an ambulance service and the usual private-hospital specialties at a price point a step below its bigger sister.
What it is known for
The newest hospital in the city, opened in May 2020 by the BDMS group that runs Bangkok Hospital Pattaya and built so that the south of the city — Jomtien, Pratumnak and South Pattaya — has a modern private hospital of its own. It runs a 24-hour emergency and trauma department with its own ambulances, an intensive-care unit, and surgical, orthopaedic, paediatric and women’s services. The hospital states that it accepts Thailand’s compulsory motor insurance for road-accident victims without asking for payment first, which matters in a town where the scooter is the most common way to get hurt. Cases beyond its scope go up the road to its larger sister hospital.
Who it suits
Anyone staying south of Pattaya Tai Road who wants private-hospital care without the trip to the northern end of Sukhumvit, families, and road-accident casualties. It is a middle-market private hospital by design: newer and cheaper than Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, better equipped than the small private hospitals in the centre, and English is spoken.
Cost and insurance
Private pricing a step below its sister hospital. A deposit on admission is normal, direct billing depends on your insurer’s contracts, and the compulsory motor insurance route only covers injuries involving a registered vehicle. Confirm the estimate before treatment starts and keep the paperwork. Ask at the desk which insurers it bills directly; for everyone else it is pay-and-claim, so keep the itemised receipt and ask for an English medical certificate before you leave.
Getting there
On Sukhumvit Road just south of the South Pattaya Road (Pattaya Tai) junction — about ten minutes from Jomtien Beach and fifteen from Walking Street. Songthaews along Sukhumvit pass the entrance; Bolt and Grab both come here. Emergency and ambulance: +66 33 125 999. Tell the driver “rong phayaban Jomtien”; the hospital is on the main road, so there is no soi to find, and the entrance is set back from the traffic with parking in front.
