My Khe is the reason many travellers pick Da Nang over anywhere else on Vietnam's coast: a dead-straight ribbon of pale sand and rolling surf that runs for kilometres along the city's east side, backed by a palm-lined promenade and the Son Tra headland to the north. Locals swim at dawn, kites go up at dusk, and in between the beach clubs take over.

Beach Clubs & Where to Settle

The stretch along Vo Nguyen Giap road is lined with clubs and cafés where a day-bed or a seafood lunch buys you shade, showers and a sound system — busiest near the An Thuong quarter, quieter as you head north toward Son Tra. Public access is free everywhere, with lifeguard-flagged swimming zones in season.

Seasons & Water

The sea is at its calmest and clearest roughly March through August; from September the swell picks up — that's when the surf schools and board rentals come alive at the softer beach breaks. Typhoon-season storms (October–November) can close the water for days at a time, so check the flags before swimming.
