Chợ đêm Sơn Trà sits on the east bank of the Hàn, a few minutes' walk from the Dragon Bridge, and it is the most straightforward night out in Da Nang: two lanes of grilled seafood, a strip of snack carts, and a block of souvenir stalls. It opens around dusk and runs late. Prices are low, the crowd is half local and half visiting Vietnamese, and nobody is dressed up.
What to eat
The seafood row is the point. Pick from the iced trays out front — scallops grilled with peanuts and scallion oil, razor clams, prawns, squid — and they cook it at the table. Expect roughly 40,000–120,000₫ a plate depending on the shellfish, with grilled scallops usually the cheapest way in. On the snack side, bánh tráng nướng — rice paper grilled over charcoal with egg, dried shrimp, scallion and chilli — runs about 15,000–30,000₫ and is worth queuing for. Add nem lụi, grilled quail, sugarcane juice, and a bia hơi or a cold Larue for pocket change.
Timing it with the Dragon Bridge
The bridge breathes fire and sprays water on weekend evenings — typically Friday through Sunday, plus public holidays — and the market is the natural staging post. Eat first, then walk over: the market sits on the Sơn Trà side, five to ten minutes from the dragon's head. Crowds build well before showtime and the riverfront railings fill up, so claim a spot early or watch from the promenade south of the bridge, where it is looser. Traffic on both approaches is closed off around the show, which means walking back is easier than riding.
Practicalities
Come hungry and come with cash; small notes move faster than card taps here, and few stalls take anything else. The souvenir end — fridge magnets, conical hats, linen, knock-off sportswear — is priced for tourists, so ask twice and expect to settle around two-thirds of the opening number; the food stalls, by contrast, are usually fixed and fair. Confirm the price of anything sold by weight before it hits the grill. Go on a weeknight if you want to eat in peace, on a weekend if you want the show. Grab and Xanh SM both drop you at the entrance.
