For thirty years this was Rajavej Ubon Ratchathani Hospital. Bangkok Chain Hospital bought it in August 2026 and it began trading as Kasemrad International Hospital Ubon Ratchathani on 1 September 2026. The building, the address and the phone number have not moved: 100 beds on Chayangkun Road at the northern edge of the city. Signs, paperwork and the website will take a while to catch up with the name.
What it is known for
Thirty years as Rajavej, and a change of owner this month. Bangkok Chain Hospital, one of Thailand’s larger private hospital groups, agreed in August 2026 to buy the business for 490 million baht, and the hospital started trading under the Kasemrad International name on 1 September 2026. It is a 100-bed general hospital that has historically served cash-paying local patients rather than insurers. The new owner has published a staged plan: more doctors and specialist departments within three months, a refurbishment of the existing outpatient and inpatient buildings over the following year, and a new inpatient block after that.
Who it suits
Anyone staying at the northern end of the city, or arriving down the highway from Amnat Charoen, for whom this is simply the nearest private hospital. It is also the sensible second call when Ubonrak Thonburi is busy or cannot fit you in. Because the hospital is mid-transition, phone before you set out for anything non-urgent and confirm that the department you want is running: staffing and clinic hours are exactly what the new owner has said it is changing first.
Cost and insurance
Private pricing, historically aimed at patients paying their own way rather than at insurers, so do not assume cashless direct billing — ask at the desk which insurers the hospital now bills directly, and expect pay-and-claim otherwise. A deposit on admission is normal. Ask for a written estimate before any procedure. During a change of ownership, be particularly careful to get an itemised receipt and an English-language medical certificate in the new hospital’s name, since that is what your insurer will check against.
Getting there
At 999 Chayangkun Road, the highway running north out of the city, roughly five kilometres from Thung Si Mueang, at the northern edge of the city. The entrance is on the main road with its own forecourt. The contact and emergency number is +66 45 959 683. Drivers will not recognise the new name for some time yet, so say “rong phayaban Ratchawet” — the old name — and everyone in Ubon Ratchathani knows where you mean.
