The Sikarin group’s southern hospital, opened in 1997 and now housed in a 12-storey tower with a rooftop helipad on Niphat Songkhro 1 Road, about 2 km north of the railway station. It holds Joint Commission International accreditation — the hospital says it was the first in the lower south to do so — as well as Thai HA, and runs 200 inpatient beds, a heart centre, orthopaedics, paediatrics and a 24-hour accident and emergency centre.
What it is known for
International accreditation in a mid-sized package. Sikarin Hatyai opened on 10 August 1997 and now occupies a 12-storey, 35,800-square-metre building with a helipad; it has held JCI accreditation since 2015 and a JCI clinical-care certification for acute stroke, and it carries the Thai HA mark. The hospital runs 200 inpatient beds with centres for heart disease, orthopaedics, digestive and liver disease, women’s and children’s health and endoscopic surgery, an accident and emergency centre, a dialysis unit and a health-check centre that does a brisk trade with visitors from across the border. It says it sees around 700 outpatients a day, from Songkhla and the neighbouring provinces of Phatthalung, Satun, Pattani and Yala.
Who it suits
Insured travellers and anyone who wants private-hospital care with recognised international standards at a price below the BDMS flagship across town. It is a good choice for a suspected stroke or heart problem — both are among its certified specialties — and for families. English is spoken; Malay-speaking staff are common in Hat Yai’s private hospitals, which draw much of their business from northern Malaysia. Cost and insurance
Upper-mid-range private prices: below Bangkok Hospital Hat Yai, above Thonburi Rajyindee, and several times a public hospital for the same visit. A deposit is normal on admission unless your insurer has guaranteed payment, which needs a contract between the two; ring the assistance line on your policy first if you can. Outpatient care is pay-and-claim. Health-check packages are priced and published in advance, which is one reason Malaysians come here for them. Ask for a written estimate before any procedure and keep the itemised receipts and the discharge summary for your claim.
Getting there
On Niphat Songkhro 1 Road about 2 km north of Hat Yai Junction railway station and 1.5 km north of Kim Yong market — a five-minute taxi or Grab ride from the hotel district around the Niphat Uthit roads. The tower is the tallest building in its part of town and drivers know it as “rong phayaban Sikharin”. From the airport allow twenty to thirty minutes; from the Sadao border about an hour.
