Dark Cave (Hang Tối) is the park's pure-fun ticket: you reach the mouth by zipline over the green Chay River, swim the last stretch, then follow headlamp beams up an unlit muddy passage to a chamber where everyone wallows, floats and giggles in thick natural mud. Kayaks and over-water obstacles wait back at the river. It is unapologetically silly — and consistently one of Phong Nha's most-loved half days.

The Circuit, Stage by Stage

The classic sequence: harness up for the high zipline across the river, swim into the cave mouth in a life jacket, then walk, wade and squelch by headlamp — helmets provided — as the passage narrows and the mud deepens. In the bath chamber the mud is so dense you float weightlessly. Rinse off in the river, then finish with kayaks and the low ziplines and swings into the water.

Practical Notes

Wear swimwear and shoes that can get soaked, and leave everything else in the lockers — cameras rarely survive the mud anyway. The site sits on the Chay River at the edge of the park loop, an easy scooter or taxi hop from town, and pairs neatly with Nuoc Mooc spring nearby. High water can close the cave, typically in the September–November flood months, so plan it for the dry season.
