From Sunset Town at Phu Quoc's southern tip, the Hon Thom cable car sails almost eight kilometres across the An Thoi strait — the world's longest over-sea cable-car ride. Fifteen minutes of fishing fleets, reef-ringed islets and open turquoise water end on Hon Thom, "Pineapple Island", where a water park and beaches fill the day until the shows begin back on the Phu Quoc side.
The Crossing & Hon Thom
Cabins glide high above the An Thoi fishing fleet — keep your camera out for the anchored blue boats and the ferries threading between islands. On Hon Thom, tickets are normally sold as combos covering the Aquatopia water park, beach loungers and the amusement zone; check what the current bundle includes before you ride. Go over in the morning for calm seas and return mid-afternoon to beat the sunset queue.
Sunset Town After Dark
Mediterranean-styled Sunset Town is pure theatre — ochre facades stacked above the harbour, the Kiss Bridge reaching across the water, and a nightly build-up of street performances; check current schedules for the Kiss of the Sea multimedia-and-fireworks show over the bay. Even without any ticket, the west-facing waterfront is one of the island's best free sunset seats, and the restaurants keep the evening going after the lights come up.
