Nha Trang

Nha Trang is a busy beach city on the south-central coast of Vietnam. A long curve of sand runs right along the city centre, with a palm-lined promenade, hotels and cafes behind it. Offshore lies Nha Trang Bay, with 19 green islands and clear water. Boats leave every morning for island trips, snorkelling and diving, and the reefs around Hon Mun are protected as a marine park. Back on land you can soak in warm mineral mud baths, ride the long cable car over the sea to the VinWonders park, or relax on quieter beaches north and south of the city. In the evening the seafront fills with families, and seafood restaurants grill fresh fish, squid and shellfish. Cam Ranh airport has many direct flights, and the main north-south train line stops in the city. Plan around the weather: the dry months from about January to August are best, and heavy rain is common from about October to December.
