Water Parks and Viewpoint in Pattaya

Part of the Pattaya travel guide — see every topic in All Pattaya Guides.

Pattaya has some of the biggest water parks in Thailand, and they are a good choice for a hot day with children. The city also has a well-known viewpoint over the bay, and many modern attractions. This guide covers the main water parks, the viewpoint and a few other family sights, with tips to plan your day.

Ramayana Water Park

Ramayana Water Park is south of Pattaya, in the Na Jomtien area. It opened in about 2016 and is one of the largest water parks in Thailand. It has many slides, from gentle ones for small children to very fast, steep ones for teens and adults. There is a big wave pool, a lazy river and a separate area for young children. The park is set among green hills and a lake. Buy tickets online for a lower price. Bring a waterproof bag for your phone, and arrive early to get a good spot in the shade.

Columbia Pictures Aquaverse

Columbia Pictures Aquaverse is a water and theme park south of Pattaya. It opened on the site of the old Cartoon Network Amazone water park. It is themed around films from Columbia Pictures, with themed areas, slides, pools and rides. There are fast slides for older children and adults, and gentle play areas for small children. It is a good choice for families who like film themes. Check the park website for opening days, because some parks close on certain weekdays in the low season.

The Pattaya viewpoint

The Pattaya viewpoint is on Pratumnak Hill, between Pattaya Beach and Jomtien. From the top you can see the whole curve of Pattaya Bay, the city towers and the islands offshore. It is a short ride from the city centre by taxi or ride app, and the viewpoint is free. It is busiest at sunset, when the city lights come on. Go a little before sunset for the best light and to find a good place to stand. Watch your bags, because it can be crowded.

Other modern sights

Pattaya has many other modern attractions. Terminal 21 Pattaya is a large shopping mall with an airport theme, with food courts and shops. Central Pattaya, on Beach Road, is a big mall with a good view of the sea. Some tall buildings have viewing decks or rooftop bars with views over the bay. There are also museums of art in 3D, go-kart tracks and adventure parks. Pattaya also has a busy nightlife area around Walking Street, which most families pass by in the daytime. Malls are a good place to cool down on a very hot afternoon. Most have food courts with Thai dishes at fair prices.

Tips for the day

Water parks are busiest on weekends and Thai holidays, so go on a weekday if you can. Buy tickets online before your visit, because it is often cheaper. Use strong sun cream and reapply it often. Bring a towel and a change of clothes. Lockers cost extra at most parks. The parks are outside the city, so take a taxi, a ride app or a hotel shuttle. Plan the viewpoint for the evening, after a day in the water. Children must meet height rules on some slides, so check the rules for each ride.
