Asiatique The Riverfront turned the century-old docks of the Danish East Asiatic Company into Bangkok's easiest night out: an open-air riverside quarter of restored trading warehouses filled with boutiques, market stalls, restaurants and stage shows, strung along a long boardwalk facing the Chao Phraya. The Asiatique Sky Ferris wheel turns above it all, and the classic arrival is by free shuttle boat as the city lights come on.
Around the Warehouses
The site is organised into themed districts of numbered warehouses — fashion and souvenirs in some, design and gift stalls in others — with a waterfront row of big seafood and Thai restaurants whose boardwalk tables catch the river breeze. Evening entertainment ranges from a long-running cabaret stage to Muay Thai showcases; line-ups change, so check what's on. The Ferris wheel's air-conditioned gondolas give a slow, high loop over the river — best after dark.
Getting There & Timing
Asiatique wakes in the late afternoon and runs to around midnight, so treat it as sunset-onwards territory. The signature approach is the free shuttle boat from Sathorn Pier beside BTS Saphan Taksin, looping continuously through the evening — queues build after dark, so going early doubles as a golden-hour river ride. Taxis and the riverside road work too. Come hungry, bargain gently at the stalls, and leave time to simply walk the waterfront.
