Where a state tobacco factory once stood, Bangkok grew a wetland. Benjakitti Forest Park — opened in stages through 2022 beside the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre — threads elevated boardwalks over reed beds and rain-fed ponds that filter city runoff, with the glass towers of Asok stacked behind. Add the older lake park next door and you get downtown Bangkok's biggest green escape, minutes from the MRT.
Skywalks & the Lake Loop
The signature move is walking the raised loop above the marsh, where egrets stalk the shallows and the skyline doubles itself in still water — late afternoon into the blue hour is the photographers' window. At ground level, causeways thread between the ponds, and the lake park next door keeps its dedicated running lane and cycling track if you want a workout with towers for a backdrop. Entry is free, and early morning is the cool, quiet slot.
Getting There & the Green Link
The park sits directly behind the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, so MRT Queen Sirikit station is the easy way in; Asok BTS and Sukhumvit MRT are a longer walk through the office blocks. From the wetland side, an elevated green walkway strides over the neighbourhood toward Lumphini Park, linking Bangkok's two great downtown parks in one shaded stroll. Hours run roughly dawn to mid-evening — carry water, because the young trees are still growing into their shade.
