Hundred Islands
In the Lingayen Gulf off the Pangasinan coast, Hundred Islands National Park is a scattered cluster of 124 dome-shaped limestone islets — the eroded remnants of an ancient coral reef — rising out of calm turquoise water like a small archipelago. The standard day-trip is to charter a bangka outrigger from Lucap Wharf in Alaminos and cruise three of the marquee islands: Governor (with its viewing-deck staircase), Quezon (sand spit and cave), and Children’s (the postcard cove). Pangasinan is roughly four to five hours from Manila by bus — a comfortable overnight or weekend escape, and an easy add-on en route to Vigan or Baguio.
