Saigon does nights better than any city in Vietnam, and it does them vertically. Above the Skyline
The rooftop belt runs right across downtown — helipad-level decks with Bitexco and Landmark 81 in the frame, and gentler hotel terraces like the Rex's rooftop garden, where American war correspondents once traded stories after the 'Five O'Clock Follies' briefings. Sunset slots and rail-side tables go first, and the smarter venues enforce a loose smart-casual code. Happy hours before 8pm soften prices that are already gentle by Bangkok or Singapore standards.
Street Level & Late
Bui Vien, in the old backpacker quarter, is the maximalist option — stacked speakers, LED everything, buckets and street stools, at full roar on weekend nights when the street goes pedestrian. Keep a hand on your phone and treat it as theatre. For the opposite mood, Saigon hides serious cocktail rooms behind unmarked doors and old apartment staircases around Dong Khoi and Ton That Dam — ask a bartender for their favourite and follow the chain. Grab rides make the late trip home cheap.
