Camiguin
Camiguin is a small, round island in the Bohol Sea, just off the north coast of Mindanao. It is green, quiet and full of volcanoes. Several volcanic peaks rise from the middle of the island, covered in thick forest, and a coast road of about 64 kilometres runs all the way around. You can ride the whole loop in one day, but most people stay three or four days to enjoy it slowly. Start with White Island, a bright sandbar in the sea with views back to the mountains. Then swim in warm volcanic springs, cool off in clear cold springs and visit tall waterfalls in the forest. Fit hikers can climb Mount Hibok-Hibok with a guide. Under the sea there are reefs and giant clams. In October the island celebrates the lanzones, a small sweet fruit that grows well in the volcanic soil. Camiguin is relaxed and friendly, with small resorts rather than big hotels. Most visitors arrive by ferry from Mindanao.
