Souvenir shopping in Đà Nẵng splits two ways. Hàn Market and Cồn Market are the atmospheric option, with haggling attached. Lotte Mart and Go! — the hypermarket chain formerly branded Big C — are the efficient one: fixed prices, barcodes, air conditioning, and the same coffee, cashews, dried fruit and fish sauce the markets sell, usually cheaper and always without the negotiation. For a last-day gift run before an airport transfer, the supermarkets win outright.
What to actually buy
Coffee first: G7 instant sachets in the large boxes, whole-bean or ground robusta and arabica from Trung Nguyên and the local roasters, and cà phê muối kits for anyone who fell for salt coffee. Then cashews — hạt điều, roasted or salted, roughly 250,000 to 400,000₫ a kilo depending on grade — plus dried mango and jackfruit, black pepper, and nước mắm. Đà Nẵng's own fish sauce comes from Nam Ô, up the coast toward Hải Vân, and turns up in the local-specialty aisle. Add bánh khô mè, the sesame-and-ginger crackers that are a genuine Đà Nẵng thing.
Lotte Mart or Go!?
Lotte Mart is the bigger day out — a multi-floor Korean-run complex on the west bank south of the centre, with the supermarket stacked under fashion floors, a food court, a kids' zone and a cinema. Go!, the rebranded Big C, sits in the Vĩnh Trung Plaza block on Hùng Vương in Hải Châu, walkable from Hàn Market and Cồn Market, and is more hypermarket than mall — quicker in, quicker out, and the better call if the only mission is the shopping list. Both run roughly 8am to 10pm. Avoid the 5pm-to-7pm after-work crush.
Getting it home
Fish sauce and any liquid over 100ml goes in checked luggage, and it goes in a bag inside a bag — caps leak under pressure changes and one broken bottle ruins a suitcase. Vacuum-packed cashews and dried fruit travel fine. Vietnam refunds VAT to departing foreigners on qualifying purchases above roughly two million đồng from a registered store, claimed at the airport with the receipt and passport, so ask at the customer-service desk before paying if the basket is large. Otherwise pay cash or card, take the free bag-packing, and Grab back.
