Helio is the purpose-built version of a Vietnamese night market — a fenced lot on 2 Tháng 9 street, on the west bank near Asia Park, with rows of food stalls under permanent roofing, an open beer garden, an arcade and a small ride area for kids. It is cleaner, brighter and more organised than the riverfront markets, which is either the appeal or the problem depending on what you came for. Families and local students make up most of the crowd.
The food court
Stalls run the full Vietnamese street-food range plus the Korean, Thai and Japanese riffs that Da Nang's students actually eat: bánh xèo, mì Quảng, nem nướng, skewers off the charcoal, tteokbokki, fried chicken, milk tea. Most single plates land in the 30,000–80,000₫ band and a full dinner for two with drinks rarely passes 300,000₫. You order stall by stall and carry it to communal tables, so split up and reconvene. Quality is decent rather than exceptional — this is not where you go for the definitive mì Quảng, but nothing here will disappoint a hungry group.
Beer garden, arcade and rides
The beer garden is the loud half: long tables, draught and bottled beer for roughly 20,000–40,000₫, a stage that gets live bands or a DJ on busier nights, and enough volume that conversation is a contact sport. Behind it sit the arcade machines, claw cranes and a compact set of kids' rides — token- or card-operated, a few tens of thousands of đồng per go. It is the rare Da Nang night venue that works for a group spanning toddlers and drinkers, which is why families park here for two or three hours instead of one.
Getting there and timing
Helio opens in the early evening — think around 5.30–6pm — and winds down near 11pm, later on weekends; it is dead before 7pm and full by 8. From the beach side it is a 15–20 minute ride across the Trần Thị Lý or Rồng bridges, about 50,000–80,000₫ by Grab car. Entry to the market is free; the rides and arcade are pay-per-use. Much of it is roofed, which makes it the reliable fallback when a wet-season squall clears the riverfront. Combine it with Asia Park and the Sun Wheel next door.
